Francophone Immigration to Canada
Immigration Programs for French Speakers
Canada is actively seeking French-speaking immigrants, to support the country’s bilingual mandate and address labour shortages in Francophone minority communities. If you speak French, there are a range of permanent and temporary immigration options available to help you build a future in Canada.
At Doherty Fultz Immigration, we guide Francophone applicants from all over the world including French-speaking countries in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and the U.S. through immigration pathways tailored specifically to them.
Who is Considered a Francophone?
To qualify for most Francophone immigration streams, you must:
- Score NCLC 7 or higher on an approved French test (e.g., TEF or TCF Canada),
You don’t necessarily need to speak English (although it may help for Express Entry).
We work with clients to evaluate their language results, education, and work history to determine which Francophone pathway is best suited to their goals.
Canadian Immigration Options for Francophones
Francophone applicants may qualify under the following categories:
-
Express Entry – Category-Based Selection for French Speakers (Outside Quebec)
In 2023, Canada began selecting French-speaking Express Entry candidates through dedicated draws even if their scores are lower than other applicants. This is one of the fastest ways to gain permanent residence.
