Canada is announcing two new streams – one is for the STEM-skilled immigrants and the other one is for the immigrant health workers. As Canada’s major industries are all suffering from a labour shortage, they are going to be filled by the immigration. Earlier this month new category-based selection adjustments to Express Entry were revealed by the Honorable Minister Fraser. The Canadian government will provide invitations to applicants from certain sectors or with specified qualifications, training, or language proficiency to submit applications for permanent residence in Canada.
STEM Skilled Immigrants
One of the six categories of the Express Entry rounds that are debuting this year is STEM. This program examines the kinds of professionals that Canada needs and expedites the immigration of candidates who meet the requirements for those positions in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The federal government declared that the Canadian Express Entry application’s first STEM round for category-based selection will begin the week of July 5 this year. Francophone immigration is boosting with these kind of improvements by allowing applicants with particular job experience or linguistic proficiency to apply for permanent residence, helping to fulfill the labor demands that support a specified economic aim.
This emphasis on hiring people with STEM backgrounds, such as data scientists, software developers and programmers, mathematicians, statisticians and actuaries, and electrical and electronics engineers, will benefit Canada’s science and technology sector by attracting the qualified workers that companies require to spur innovation and realize their full growth potential.
HEALTH Workers Immigrants
Canada’s health system faced with shortages of health workers and with the new changes in the Express Entry launched this year, many skilled workers with health care experience may be eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Dedicated invites will be sent in 2 rounds to health professionals, such as physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and optometrists. 500 healthcare professionals have already been invited to apply in the first phase of category-based selection, which begins today 28th of June. On July 5, 1,500 workers will be invited to apply in a second round of invitations. This action will assist increase access to health care services for Canadians and their families by concentrating on applicants with experience in the field and by bringing in the talent the Canadian nation needs. Beside the general invitations, category invitations will be sent during the whole year to help improving the Canadian health workforce by bringing more qualified health professionals and filling the gap of the health system.
