Great news on Passport Processing times at the moment from the UK Passport Offices if applying from Canada or the USA.
With the Passport office strikes during April and May 2023 UK passport applications from Canada and the USA were being processed in around 8 weeks. For first time applicants the strike did extend them to 12 weeks and more.
Recently, for a UK passport renewal from Canada, if your application is complete, you can now expect your new passport in 2-3weeks and that includes receiving back your originals.
For your First UK passport from Canada the processing time is now around 5-6 weeks if complete.
Our recent clients have been receiving their passports back within 2 weeks from when we submit the application to the UK, to receiving the new passport back.
If you have a trip planned or you are thinking of it then check your passport now. Be especially careful of the issuance date in particular. Your passport must have 10 years of validity from the date it was issued even if your expiry date shows your passport is valid you may be prevented from travelling if the passport is over 10 years old due to the new ruling after Brexit.
It is also important to remember that you must have a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card or a Canadian passport to return to Canada.
