CEC ONLY Express Entry Draw
This week, the 140th Express Entry draw occurred amid the current COVID-19 Crisis. IRCC issued 3232 invitations to apply. The significance of this latest draw was that it was for members of the “Canadian Experience Class” only.
This is only the second time in the history of Express Entry that there has been a separate individual draw for the “Canadian Experience Class”. The previous draw was held on February 20th, 2015, which was the third ever Express Entry draw. Typically, most rounds of invitations are for “No specified Category” which means that all 4 categories are included (CEC, FSW, FST, PNP). Occasionally, approximately twice per year, IRCC issue separate draws for the “Federal Skilled Trades” and the Provincial Nominee Program.
How Does This Effect You?
It is hard to imagine that the timing of this draw separate CEC draw is a coincidence amid the current COVID-19 crisis given that the majority of people who are eligible for the Canadian Experience Class are already in Canada.
Another interesting thing about this draw was the “cut off” score which is used to separate people with the same lowest CRS score. usually the “cut off” date is approximately 2-4 weeks prior to the day of the draw, however this latest draw has a cut off date of November 25th, 2019, which was 4 months ago.
