If you came to Canada as a permanent resident and you have lost your IMM1000 given to you when you landed, then you can apply to replace this document.
An IMM1000 document is given to all permanent residents of Canada at the time of their landing regardless of age. For this reason, children’s landing documents are frequently lost or unavailable.
You are required to provide a copy of your IMM1000 when you apply for your Canadian Pension and/or Old Age Security to prove how long you have been in Canada. Certain countries also require their citizens to provide a copy of their IMM1000 when renewing their passport from inside Canada.
You no longer need a copy of your IMM1000 in order to apply for Canadian citizenship. However, you are required to bring the document with you at the time you take your oath of citizenship so that it can be stamped to indicate that you are no longer a permanent resident.
