Juan’s journey to becoming a permanent resident of Canada is a remarkable tale of perseverance and hope. Originally entering Canada in 2019 as a refugee, Juan was determined to build a new life in the country where his parents resided. However, his path was fraught with challenges and unexpected turns.

On May 25, 2022, Juan submitted an application for permanent residence under Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) grounds. Unfortunately, just a few months later, on August 23, 2022, he received a departure order due to his inadmissibility as an immigrant without a visa. Forced to leave Canada, Juan’s future seemed uncertain.

Despite leaving Canada, Juan’s determination never wavered. On August 22, 2023, his H&C application was approved in principle, providing a crucial opportunity for him to return and complete the process. Time was of the essence, as he needed to be physically present in Canada to finalize his permanent residence.

To facilitate Juan’s urgent return, we promptly submitted an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC) application. The application was accepted, but an additional request was made to prove Juan’s presence in Canada before his departure order. Acting swiftly, we gathered all necessary documents, including letters from his previous employers, and submitted them along with a detailed explanation of his situation. The thorough preparation paid off, and the application was approved.

The Unexpected Halt

Just when things seemed to be back on track, another hurdle arose. After submitting his passport for visa issuance, the return envelope was lost. This unforeseen complication could have derailed the entire process. Juan reported the loss to the police and applied for a new passport. We immediately notified Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and submitted supporting documents to explain the situation.

Another Bundle of Joy

With a new passport in hand, Juan resubmitted it to the Embassy. This time, the process went smoothly. Juan returned to Canada, received his landing paper, and was granted permanent residence. Today, he is happily reunited with his family, living the life he has dreamed of since his arrival in 2019.
